WELCOME TO BALI!

A small island, yet contributes 40% of tourism revenue in Indonesia. As one of the top destination in the world, we recently hear a lot about Indonesia (and Bali) as the world’s second-largest source of marine pollution. But not many people know beyond the glitz and glam and environmental issues in Bali, these are several facts noted to know about
the locals.

The Luxury of Owning 3,000 sqm Agricultural Land But a Meager Income of only USD 5 per Day
The farmers of Bali have been gifted with a prosperous land from their forefathers, but in a place where they can grow anything, they struggle to live. The farmers know how to plant, but not what to plant, and how to
harvest but not how to sell.

“Don’t be a farmer like mom and dad,” is a message passed on to all the young generations of Balinese today. But if there are no future farmers, there will be no food and no future.

A Tropical Paradise Where Chefs Are Struggling to Find Ingredients
From beach, mountain, forest to waterfall, Bali has all the natural assets needed. Yet almost 70% of food is imported because the local farmers do not understand the demand. Resulting in a lot of wasted crops, prices falling down for farmers, and increasingly expensive cost to live in Bali.

Urbanisation Rate is High and Competition in Tourism is Tight
Since very little, most Balinese believes that success = working at a hotel (no matter what you study). But in the big city and touristy area, the expectations are high and the competition is not just local, it’s international.

Without a unique dream and innovative mentality, it’s difficult for locals to thrive and to participate pro-actively in tackling global issues.

WE BELIEVE MOVIE CAN BE THE SOLUTION

Movie is easier to understand and movie has the power to change minds and hearts. We want filmmakers to realize this potential and use movie as a weapon to make positive impacts.

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION IS A MUST

Food security, poverty, lack of innovations and urbanisation are global issues which happen everywhere. Bali is just one sample case. By involving international communities, locals can learn different perspectives from you, and you can learn different challenges when given different social-cultural context. We believe with a better and mutual
understanding, we can create a life-long friendship and solutions to take care the earth together.

This international experience will also be valuable for us as filmmakers to create better contents that truly reflects a society and actual issues, and that is not only entertaining, but also meaningful.

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE, SIMPLIFY WITH MOVIE!
